By Gadiosa Lamtey Dar es Salaam . The government expects  to meet with Mount Kilimanjaro stakeholders to discuss the planned cable car project, which is being opposed by tour operators. In 2019, Tanzania announced an ambitious plan that would see a cable car installed on Mount Kilimanjaro in its quest for quadrupling annual tourists' number to Africa's highest mountain from 50,000 to 200,000. The tour operators say the plan would degrade Mount Kilimanjaro's prime tourism status and the environment while others dispute the tendering process. However, the minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Damas Ndumbaro said the government will discuss with all stakeholders to reach consensus on the matter. "On March 8, I will hold a meeting with stakeholders in Moshi so that we can discuss the issue. If we agree that the cable car project is not worth it then we will leave it. Travel agents are being flooded with requests from Canadians eager to book vacations now that the federal government has said it will drop pre-arrival PCR tests for fully vaccinated travellers as of Feb. 28 Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced Tuesday that travellers will still be required to take a pre-arrival test for COVID-19, but they can instead opt for an authorized rapid antigen test taken no more than one day before their scheduled flight or arrival at the land border.  Antigen tests are generally cheaper and more widely available than a molecular test and can provide results within minutes.  Also starting Feb. 28, unvaccinated children under the age of 12 entering Canada with fully vaccinated parents will no longer have to avoid schools, daycare or other crowded settings for 14 days, said Duclos. After the global reckoning over race in 2020, some group-tour providers made a pledge to improve equity through training, mentoring and funding for minority guides. In late 2020, Leon Burnette, an independent tour director and civil rights historian, received a phone call from the director of a global travel company, asking him to recommend Black tour guides for a new tour being created along the United States Civil Rights Trail, which snakes from Kansas to Washington, D.C. But there was a problem: Mr. Burnette hardly knew any. Air Canada is restarting 34 international routes in its summer 2022 schedule, saying the resumption of services dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic is a sign the "recovery is well underway." In March, the Star Alliance carrier will resume flights from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to seven destinations: Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH), Lisbon (LIS), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Rome (FCO), Tel Aviv (TLV) and Vienna (VIE).  Also in March the carrier will resume service from Montreal (YUL) to ATH, LIS and FCO. In April, Air Canada will restart service from YYZ to Tokyo (NRT) and Venice (VCE). It will also resume the YUL-VCE route in April. ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Annapolis was sold recently to companies from Georgia and Virginia, a press release said. The buyers announced the sale last month, but they did not mention the purchase price of the Parole hotel. Maryland property records do not yet list the transaction. The database estimated, however, that the hotel was worth $4,645,400 as of last July. The current owner, the Annapolis Hospitality Company, has held the 1.48-acre site for nearly 22 years. It bought the hotel for $2,450,000 in April 2000, records show. Octave Opportunity Fund, an arm of Octave Holdings and Investments, said it purchased the hotel alongside Loudon Hospitality Management. Octave is a privately-owned real estate investor that's based in Alpharetta, Ge orgia and specializes in shopping centers.
