Traveling often comes with a set of expectations. Maybe you've visited a destination you didn't know much about and it ended up being a total hidden gem. Or on the other end of the spectrum, perhaps a place was so hyped up in your mind that the reality actually fell short. So I browsed the subreddit r/travel and rounded up a list of destinations that defied traveler's expectations...for better or for worse. 1. "French Basque country. San Sebastian is a nice town, which you hear a lot about, but French Basque country is also really nice. It's a 30 minute drive from San Sebastian all along the Atlantic coast, and no passport is needed to visit. Sergio and Lindsey De Los Santos have opened Zocálo, 418 S. Tejon St., serving tacos and other Mexican food specialties. Zocálo means gathering place and is the name of the main central areas in Mexican cities. Sergio is an award-winning chef from Mexico City who has been featured on the Cooking Channel and Food Network. The couple also own Sergio's Cantina and 1910 Bar in the Chicago area. "Our son, Christian, went to college here and has settled here. We missed him," Sergio said. "We wanted to be near him. ... He told us we need to open a Mexican food restaurant in the Springs."
