Inside Fora, the startup igniting a possible renaissance for travel agents - Fortune

Somewhere in between travel lockdowns during the first year of the pandemic and the current chaos plaguing airports around the world, a bevy of new travel startups launched with promises of a better experience. The latest entry is Fora, self-described as a tech-forward travel agency that essentially serves as a hub for experienced travelers looking for a launchpad to run a side gig (or more) as a travel agent. Since launching in August just one year ago, Fora now boasts nearly 500 travel advisers worldwide (97% of whom have never worked in the sector before), operating within its network, with more than 30,000 people on the wait list. And this week, the New York–based company announced $13.5 million in Series A funding, which will help advance the development of the travel agency's technology for advisers. THE Linden Suites, through the Department of Tourism (DoT), was awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) its Safe Travels stamp. Designed to allow international travelers to recognize governments and businesses worldwide that have adopted globally standardized safety and hygiene protocols, the WTTC Safe Travels stamp, which was the first of its kind, was awarded to the Philippines in September 2020. As of Aug. 5, 2022, The Linden Suites was among the 24 hospitality establishments in the Philippines awarded its use. The Linden Suites was currently operating as a multiuse hotel for business, leisure and quarantine accommodation. Located in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, it continued to offer 168 accommodation units, providing comfort and convenience to its guests. Canada immigration news: Canada tourism is on the way back as both Canadians and visiting foreign nationals buoy the hospitality sector and drive recovery to pre-COVID levels, reports Statistics Canada. The national statistical and demographic services agency reported this week that tourism activity in Canada was still down 21.2 per cent below the level for the same month in May 2019, the last full year before COVID-19 hit the country.   With border closures and public health restrictions, including temporary business shutdowns in many provinces, tourism took a massive hit in 2020.   But now, it's back on the upswing.
