Beach lovers will be able to have some added fun, as the Osoyoos Splash BC Water Park is opening at Gyro Beach this week.

On Wednesday, beach visitors will be able to stretch their water wings on the wibit from 11 a.M to 730 p.M.

"We're super excited to be opening for the season, and we can't wait to see everyone come make their splash.," said Ashley Anderson, Splash BC administrative lead.

Opening in 2019, the Osoyoos location features a different configuration from other three Slash BC parks, including a fountain in the middle.

"It does have a log roll, which a lot of kids seem to enjoy," Anderson added..

When asked about the safety of the inflatable park, Anderson said with precautions in place, it's a safe activity.

"We always have guards on the park and onshore that are looking out for all the participants on there," she said. "There are different challenges in the loops; you can do a harder loop or one that's not as hard, so you can kind of see what your level of skill is on there."

Splash BC requires that participants are aged 5 and up, wear lifejackets, and have basic swimming skills. Those aged 5 to 7 also need to have adult supervision.

The Osoyoos park will be in operation until August 26.

Hockomock Y To Host Two Community Days At Foxboro Branch's Spier Family Splash Park

When the weather starts to heat up, the pools, lakes, oceans, rivers and other bodies of water start calling in our area.

Local residents can get some splash time in at the Invensys Foxboro branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA during two community days scheduled at its Spier Family Splash Park. The events will be held from 9:30 a.M. To 11:30 a.M. On Saturday, July 13 and Saturday, Aug. 10. All in the community are invited to enjoy the splash park and Spier Family Outdoor Aquatics Center, which is located at 67 Mechanic Street.

As part of the Hockomock Area YMCA's commitment to water safety and swim instruction, swim lessons are offered through the summer through youth classes as well as summer camp.

This summer, the Invensys Foxboro Branch summer camp will have additional opportunities for children to receive swim instruction during the camp day, thanks to the Spier Splash Program. These increased swim supports and ample time spent in the water teach kids water safety skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and build their confidence in and around water.

In 2015, the Spier family of Foxboro created the Spier Splash Program in collaboration with the Hockomock Y, offering free swim lessons to all first and second grade students in Foxboro Public Schools.

"Greg and Kathy Spier, along with their parents Sonja and the late Alex Spier, have been passionate, steadfast supporters of our YMCA," says Jim Downs, CEO of the Hockomock Area YMCA. "Through our Spier Splash Program, hundreds of local children are learning how to swim and how to enjoy swimming as lifelong recreation. The Spier Family continues to impact our work in profound ways as they help us address the emerging needs in our communities that truly change lives."

The Spiers have a passion for water safety and enjoyment as Sonja Spier learned to swim as a little girl in New York, thanks to a scholarship to the YMCA.

Edison's Splash Park For Kids Is Officially Open: Everything To Know

EDISON – The new splash park for children at Lake Papaianni near the Municipal Complex off Route 27, which features a 20-foot replica of the Edison light tower spraying water, is officially open.

The $2.8 million splash park opened to the public June 30, a day after a pep rally was held at the park with members of township's youth leagues.

The splash park is in the shape of a light bulb and in addition to the light tower also features globes and old-fashioned movie cameras that spray water. The fenced park also features a rubberized safety surface, picnic benches, tables, chairs, cornhole, shade structures, and restrooms with changing stalls.

Mayor Sam Joshi said the park, which has attracted hundreds of children and families in the first opening days, "a major success."
